Finding way safely back to school in person
My goal has been and remains to find a way to safely return to school in person.
As days turn into weeks and the weeks turn into months of remote learning, my concern for our students and what they are losing continues to grow.
Remote learning has been successful for some students. For others, it has been OK — not great, but also not completely detrimental.
However, there are many students and families for which remote learning is simply not working, particularly for long periods of time. The longer our students are learning remotely, the wider the gap between the students who are able to keep up and the ones who are struggling becomes. It’s heartbreaking.
If wearing a mask correlates with our ability to return to school, I say wear a mask.
Our students need to be in school. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing to help us get back to school.
