Knoch wrestlers win 1st section match

Six Knoch wrestlers won by pinfall Wednesday night as the Knights visited North Catholic to kick off section grappling and came away with a 60-18 victory.

Jarrett Crowe, Cam Elliott, Brayden McGowan, Owen Layhew, Derrick Glover, and Parker Anderson all won by fall against the Trojans. Braylee Ireland won via default and Miranda Lajevic, Brady Pflugh, and Wyatt Foster all won via forfeit.

Knoch will next wrestle at Hampton for another section matchup.

Boys Basketball

Behind three double-digit scoring efforts, A-C Valley toppled Venango Catholic, 64-44, on the road Tuesday night. Brody Dittman paced the Falcons with 20 points, while Jay Clover added 16 and Zahsheen Levins 14.

The Vikings managed just one point in the third frame, allowing A-C Valley a 25-point lead going into the fourth.

Bowling

Both Butler teams defeated Beaver Falls at Sims Lanes Wednesday night, as the girls swept their match, 7-0, and the boys came away with a 5-2 victory.

Kelsee McConnell rolled a 611 series and had a high game of 234 on the girls side, while Kaylee Kniess chipped in with a 524 series and high game of 195. The Golden Tornado improved to 4-0.

Micah Potts had a 597 series and a 236 high game for the Butler boys (3-1). Greg Wilbert had a 553 series and a high game of 220.

Both teams will visit Blackhawk next Wednesday.

Rifle

Butler 791-48x, Avella 745-24X — The Golden Tornado came away with a victory Tuesday. No other details were provided.
