Butler Township holds essay contest
BUTLER TWP — Students will answer the question, “How do you believe Local Government affects quality of life issues?” in the Butler Township Board of Commissioners essay contest. The activity is part Local Government Week.
The competition is open to students in grades 9 to 12 who reside in the township and who attend public, private, technical, vocational, religious and/or home/cyber school.
The contest also is open to freshmen and sophomores at Butler County Community College who graduated from Butler High School and resided in the township.
Essays should be 1,000 words or less. The deadline for submissions is April 7.
Essays may be mailed or delivered to Butler Township Municipal Building, 290 S. Duffy Road, Butler, PA 16001.
The winner will be announced at the Butler Township Board of Commissioners meeting on April 21. The student will meet with township officials and receive $300 for college textbooks.
