Martha P. Bachman

Martha P. Bachman, 96, of Jefferson Township passed away on Nov. 21, 2019, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 25, 1923, in Winfield Township, she was the daughter of Conrad Wiegand and Cecelia Doerr Wiegand.

Martha had been the Jefferson Township tax collector for 24 years.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler, and the Saxonburg American Legion Post 683, where she always helped at the dinners and was known as the “gravy lady.”

She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Martha always loved the young children, and they were always drawn to her.

Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Bachman of Butler and Donna (Michael) Schnur of Butler; her granddaughters, Crystal Schnur of Glenolden, Pa., and Shawna Schnur of Butler; and her great-grandson, Trey Sarver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Donald E. Bachman, who passed away on Dec. 8, 2006; two brothers, George Wiegand and Albert Wiegand; and one sister, Louise Shook.

BACHMAN — Friends of Martha P. Bachman, who died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, and from noon until 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at the funeral home with the Rev. James Neal officiating.

Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
