In honor of Mother's Day, the Butler Public Library will hold a quilting party at 11 a.m. May 2 at the library, 218 N. McKean St.
Young ladies and the special women in their lives are invited to learn about the history of quilts, listen to a story and create a mini family quilt to keep. Registration is suggested.

MARS - Mars United Methodist Church, 525 Pittsburgh St., will host a sanctuary of quilts show from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2.To enter a quilt, take it to the church sanctuary from 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday. BUTLER TWP - The Butler Teachers' Association will hold its third annual Teachers' Share and Care rummage sale from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 2 at the Butler High School Cafeteria. A bake sale will be included.Many items may be discounted later in the day.Proceeds will benefit the United Way of Butler County Community Impact Fund.
EAST BRADY - A spring bike ride will be held at 1:30 p.m. May 3, leaving from the East Brady football field parking lot, corner of Verner Street and First Avenue.The ride will be held to promote the East Brady to Red Bank Creek section of the Armstrong Trail. SUGARCREEK TWP - The Sugarcreek Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the fire hall, 110 Rodgers Road off of Route 268 and Kittanning Hollow Road. Lunch will be available.Drop-off for donations will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. No large furniture or appliances will be accepted.
CRANBERRY TWP - Diabetes education classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. May 5, 12, 19 and 26 and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. June 2, 9, 16, and 23. Classes will be held in the second floor conference room of UPMC Passavant, Cranberry, 1 St. Francis Way.To register, call 412-367-6887.
PENN TWP -The Butler County Symphony Association's Diamond Jubilee Symphony Gala will be held at 6 p.m. May 16 at the Butler Country Club. The 60th anniversary event, which is black tie optional, will benefit the Butler County Symphony Orchestra and is open to all.Tables in groups of eight to 10 can be reserved.
