ZELIENOPLE — Passavant Retirement Community hosts its seventh annual Abundant Lights holiday festival Sunday.

Festivities include the opening ceremony in Scholl Auditorium, a basket auction, carriage rides, music, children's entertainment, a visit from Santa, a miniature railroad display and a Zambelli fireworks display.

Proceeds benefit the Benevolent Care Fund.

An acting seminar will be offered Saturday by J. Eddie Peck, who has appeared on “the Young and the Restless,” “All My Children” and “Days of Our Lives.”Peck had roles in numerous TV dramas such as “Dallas,” “Dynasty,” “Cheers” and “Murder She Wrote.” He also starred in “To Grandmother's House We Go” with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.The seminar will be from 2 to 4 p.m. for those age 12 and younger and from 6 to 9 p.m. for those age 13 to adult at 110 Morgan Center, 101 E. PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Opera brings back the New Year’s Eve gala and concert called Auld Lang Syne.In the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland, Auld Lang Syne II: Vienna in Pittsburgh will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by a gala dinner at 7 p.m. and a concert with orchestra and vocalists and a celebration to ring in 2011.The centerpiece of Auld Lang Syne II is a 90-minute concert led by Pittsburgh Opera Music Director Antony Walker with members of the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra.After the concert, the celebration continues in the Grand Foyer with an assortment of desserts, live entertainment and dancing, and a midnight champagne toast.Tickets start at $75 for the concert only.
