Moniteau’s Kelly reaches 1,000 career points

Moniteau’s Catherine Kelly totaled 29 points — surpassing 1,000 for her prep career — as the Warriors defeated Greenville, 55-43, Saturday. Kendall Sankey added seven points, 10 rebounds, and four assists for Moniteau, which raced out to a 16-point lead after the first frame and never looked back.

Tyler Pepin posted 33 points and five different Seneca Valley players sank at least two three-pointers as the Raiders downed Perry, 84-41, at North Hills Saturday. Pepin bucketed three treys and Esheza Okponobi, Owen Congdon, Nico Santapau, and Luke West all had two. Seneca Valley outscored their opponent, 40-8, in the opening quarter.

North Catholic 79, St. Joseph’s (Buffalo) 48 — Max Hurray bucketed 25 points, Nick Larson 12 — including four treys — and Jude Rottman 10 as the Trojans won big Sunday. North led, 37-15, at the halfway point.

Knoch 65, Freedom 22 — Thanks in large part to a 29-4 first frame advantage, the Knights (1-0) earned a comfortable victory. Derek Lang had 14 points and Teegan Finucan 12 as 13 different Knoch players scored.

Knoch plays host to Quaker Valley Tuesday night.

Sharon 63, Mars 61 — Ryan Ceh and Austin Campbell both had 13 points as the Planets lost in overtime. Elias Grenier added 11 points.

Union 81, Brockway 24 — Hayden Smith turned in 20 points, Owen Bish 14, and Dawson Camper 12 as the Knights raced past the Rovers, who managed just 10 points in the first 16 minutes.

General McLane 71, Slippery Rock 45 — Josh Book had 20 points, Levi Prementine 15, and Max Kovacik five in this loss. The Lancers hopped out to a 23-5 advantage after eight minutes and led 39-15 halfway.

Laurel Highlands 59, Summit Academy 40 — Kristian Clayton had a team-high 13 points for the Knights in this setback at Yough.

Wrestling

Miranda LeJevic (4th place at 107 lbs.), Owen Layhew (7th at 152 lbs.), and Wyatt Foster (215 lbs.) were individual place winners as Knoch competed at the Hickory Invitational Tournament over the weekend. The Knights finished 15th out of 28 teams at the event and Foster was also named to the tournament’s All-Academic team.
