SRU men lose in Hawaii, 76-74

HONOLULU — Hawaii Pacific’s Diggy Winbush sank a high, floating layup as time expired Sunday night, giving his team a 76-74 men’s basketball win over Slippery Rock.

The lead changed hands 32 times on the night, with neither team ever leading by more than six points.

Lashon Lindsey led The Rock (1-2) with 17 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Jomo Goings scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds and two steals before fouling out late in the second half. Maceo Austin had 13 points and four rebounds, Sheick Samoura 12 points.

Melo Sanchez led Hawaii Pacific (3-2) with 33 points. Winbush added 10 while Matt Van Komen had 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.

The Rock was scheduled to play Chaminade late Monday night in Hawaii.
