Event on Oct. 19 raises funds for cancer fight

The Pink Lemonade team of Butler will be raising cancer awareness in October.

The group, started by sisters-in-law Alexis and Jamie Dumbaugh, has organized a pub crawl, which will start at 7 p.m. on Oct. 19. The group will meet at the Belmont 2 in Bon Aire Plaza. Other stops that night include the Monroe Hotel, the Huddle Lounge and the Crossbow Lounge.

“All of the bars work closely with us to raise money for breast cancer (awareness),” Alexis said.

Proceeds from the night will go to the Pittsburgh branch of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Last year the group raised nearly $8,000, and this year Pink Lemonade is hoping to raise $10,000.

The group will travel from bar to bar in two large buses. The cost to join the group is $35, which will include a bus pass and a T-shirt.

“This year we will have almost 100 women,” Alexis said.

The public is invited to join the women at the bars to support breast cancer awareness. They will also have T-shirts available.

The Pink Lemonade team will also host a New Year’s Eve Gala on Dec. 31.
