James Peace
James Eugene Peace, 83, of Chicora passed away Friday at the Chicora Medical Center.
He was born June 23, 1932, in Tunnelton, Pa., to the late John T. Peace Sr. and Deane (Horrell) Peace.
Mr. Peace was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked for the PA Department of Highways from 1955 to 1966 as a construction engineer; he then worked for the PA Department of Forest and Water from 1966 to 1990. He retired in 1990 after 24 years with states parks.
Mr. Peace was a life member of 272 Butler Lodge F&AM and was a member of New Castle Shriner Consistory. He enjoyed nature, hiking trails that he made, biking, bocce on a course he constructed and swinging on his swing in his back yard.
Mr. Peace is survived by his wife, Vera Jean, whom he married June 7 1958; one son, Michael J. Peace of Butler; one daughter, Mary Ann Reeher of Jamestown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jimmy Hovis, John Peace and his wife, Kristin, and Shawna Nebel and her husband, Alec; one brother, John T. Peace Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou, of Stuart, Fla.; two nieces; and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Don Peace.
