Waneda H. Weitzel
Waneda H. Weitzel, 91, of Butler passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born July 3, 1926, in Sarver, to the late Otto H. Sasse and the late Nancy Ray Sasse.
Mrs. Weitzel was a homemaker and Lutheran by faith. She enjoyed Bible study, playing bingo, crafts and reading.
She is survived by her four children, Judy Courtney of Prospect, Gerald “Jerry” Weitzel and his fiancé, Lynda Byers, of Sarver, Janet Menchyk and her husband, Frank, of Prospect, and Gary Weitzel and his wife, Teri, of Prospect; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandsons; two sisters, Jean Hunter and Nancy Polkey; four brothers, Norman Sasse, John LeRoy Sasse, Charles Sasse and Jay Sasse; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay C. Weitzel, whom she married on July 30, 1945, and who passed away on April 29, 2010; and her three brothers, Oscar Sasse, Francis E. Sasse and Donald Sasse.
WEITZEL — Friends of Waneda H. Weitzel, who died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 8 p.m. Friday with Pastor Roger Nuerge, chaplain at Concordia Lutheran Ministries at Cabot, officiating.
