Tom Harrison

Tom Harrison is a new editorial writer for the Butler Eagle.

He will write editorials and help organize the editorial page.

A native of upstate New York, Harrison, 53, is from Lima, Ohio, where he worked for eight years for the Lima News as a copy editor, page designer, reporter and columnist. He also was on the board of directors of Senior Citizen Services of Lima.

Harrison has worked at a number of newspapers in Western Pennsylvania, including the Beaver County Times, The Sharon Herald, The Allied News in Grove City, where he was the editor, and the Greenville Record-Argus in Greenville, Pa., where he was the executive editor.

He was active with the United Way in Greenville and Grove City and was a founding member and board vice president of the Greenville Literacy Council.

He also worked for a newspaper in suburban New York.

A graduate of Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va., Harrison and his wife are in the process of moving to Butler County. They have four adult children and six grandchildren.

Westinghouse lists staff appointmentsCRANBERRY TWP — Westinghouse Electric has announced three employee appointments. They are:• Mark Marano as president, Americas Region. He will be responsible for customer relationships, business plan development, and project and product delivery in the Americas Region.He will work closely with Westinghouse Nuclear Automation, Nuclear Fuel, Nuclear Power Plants and Nuclear Services product lines.Most recently, Marano was senior vice president for AREVA NP in Charlotte, N.C. He also has held executive positions in GE-Hitachi, American Electric Power and other utilities.• Jeffrey Benjamin as senior vice president, Nuclear Power Plants. He will lead Westinghouse efforts to meet existing new plant customer needs and develop new plant opportunities.Benjamin has more than 25 years of global nuclear experience in plant engineering and operations, nuclear power plant project development and nuclear services business development.He comes to Westinghouse from his most recent role with Rolls-Royce in London, where he led the nuclear services business with locations in North America, England and France.Benjamin will relocate from Britain to Westinghouse’s headquarters in Cranberry.• Consulting engineer Alex Harkness as chairman of the company’s Technical Leader Review Committee, which oversees development and placement of consulting engineers and scientists for Westinghouse technical leader positions.He has been a research and technology consulting engineer at the company’s Cranberry headquarters where he is leading the development of the Westinghouse Small Modular Reactor design.Harkness has been with the company for 23 years.
