Room to Breathe
BUFFALO TWP — Oberg Industries is building a new manufacturing facility at its Sarver location on Route 356.
The 80,000-square-foot building will increase Oberg’s precision manufacturing space. David Getty, manager of corporate communications, said the expansion is necessary to let the company “breathe a little” at its other facilities.
“It’s just completely filled up,” Getty said.
He said the project is expected to add about 40 new employees.
The company broke ground on the building in early August. It is expected to open in spring 2016.
The building is being contracted by W.K. Thomas of Butler. Getty said he could not disclose the cost of the facility.
It will go up next to the other facility at the Sarver location on Route 356, which the company added on to a few years ago.
“That’s going to stay, no question,” Getty said.
Getty said the company will be reallocating its space to be more effective.David Bonvenuto, president and CEO, said the new building will give Oberg more room to expand.“This will allow the company to be more flexible on its manufacturing floor, handle larger projects and be more cost competitive in addition to adding physical space to increase our employee development training areas,” Bonvenuto said in a statement.Oberg specializes in producing precision metal components and precision tooling, which are used in the automotive, aerospace, defense, construction, housing, medical and energy industries. The company, which has its headquarters in Buffalo Township, has 630 employees at its Sarver and Freeport locations. It also has 122 employees in Costa Rica.Eric Oberg, board chairman, said in a statement, “This expansion project represents a measure of confidence in our talented employees, the continued success of our customer partners and growth of our business and to this region in continuing to lead advanced manufacturing on a global scale.”
