George Braun

George E. Braun, 80, of Valencia, formerly of Pine Township, passed away Tuesday morning at LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born in Aspinwall on May 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Carl and Velma Purvis Braun.

George was a retired parts manager for McKnight Road Dodge and Wexford Dodge. He then worked in the maintenance department of the Fox Chapel Racquet Club. He was a gentleman farmer on his farm and enjoyed gardening.

He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a life member of the Mars Volunteer Fire Department, now the Adams Area Fire District.

Surviving are his wife, Leopoldine “Poldy” Ferstl Braun; his son, David E. Braun and his wife, Tammy, of Hughesville; his granddaughters, Kelly and Casey Braun; his sister, Mary Adolphson of St. Louis, Mo.; and his brother, John “Jack” Braun and his wife, Janet, of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Velma Walton, and his brother, C. Robert Braun.

Braun, who passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014.Friends are invited to a funeral service at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Greg Wiest officiating.
