Butler Downtown holds logo contest

Butler Downtown, the nonprofit organization working to revitalize Butler's business district, is launching a contest to design its logo.

"We're looking for a bold graphic that visually represents the community's vision for downtown Butler," said Becky Smith, Butler's Main Street manager, in a statement released Wednesday.

The contest will run Friday through March 20 and is open to anyone.

The creator of the winning graphic logo, which will be used in advertising and promotion materials for Butler Downtown, as well as signs in the city's downtown area, will receive an eMachines laptop with a 15-inch LCD screen.

"Our vision plan builds upon our city's rich heritage and strong prospects for the future. A logo that projects those elements will help us in all our efforts and programs," Smith said.

Local celebrity judges will select the contest winner, and the final logo selection will be made by the Butler Downtown board of directors, with the winner announced in early April.

Contest applications, rules and related materials are available on the organization's Web site, www.butlerdowntown.org.

Printed copies also are available at the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, Morgan Center, 101 E. Diamond St., Lower Level, Suite 116 in Butler.
