Man gets time served in case
A Pittsburgh area man charged with delivering a controlled substance was sentenced to time served in Butler County Court on Thursday.
Robert M. Jones, 39, of Penn Hills, was sentenced to one month to 24 months minus one day in the Butler County Prison, 24 months' probation and a $250 fine.
He was released to the Allegheny County Probation Office by county Judge Timothy McCune, after serving more than seven months in custody.
Jones entered a guilty plea to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance on May 10, after being charged following the Dec. 5, 2015, incident.
Jones was charged alongside another man, Orlando S. Holeman, following a traffic stop on East Cunningham Street, Butler, for having illegal tinting.
Butler police said Holeman was driving the car that was pulled over and, following a search, suspected cocaine and heroin were found.
Behind the driver's seat, police found suspected narcotics packaging materials. In the trunk, troopers seized a backpack vacuum cleaner that allegedly contained two plastic bags each with cocaine and heroin.
During the search, according to the document, troopers spotted Jones allegedly drop a plastic bag of heroin in front of the police patrol car. Jones was searched and found with $203 in currency.
