ELLWOOD CITY — Police say a Western Pennsylvania man strangled his live-in girlfriend then summoned police the following day.

Investigators say 23-year-old Keith Michael Wolfrey killed the mother of his child, 20-year-old Joie Lordi, inside their Ellwood City home on Saturday. Investigators called to the scene Sunday say Lordi's face was wrapped in duct tape.

Authorities say Wolfrey told police he'd argued with Lordi while moving out and put his hands around her throat but after that his memory is foggy.

Police say Wolfrey told investigators the couple's 6-month-old baby woke him up Sunday and he called his mother before alerting police.

Wolfrey is being held without bail on charges of homicide and abuse of a corpse. It was not clear if he had an attorney.

SHALER TOWNSHIP — Police say they believe a man fatally shot his wife and two young daughters inside their suburban Pittsburgh home before turning the gun on himself.Shaler Township police say neighbors reported hearing gunshots inside the home at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.Police Chief Jeff Gally told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that officers discovered the body of an 8- or 9-year-old girl in a hallway. Her mother, father and baby sister were found in the master bedroom.The victims' names weren't immediately released.The chief says the family had lived in the rented home for a few weeks and there was no indication of what might have prompted the shooting. He says the father didn't have a criminal record in Allegheny County.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — A Western Pennsylvania preschooler is dead after apparently drowning in a creek.State police say 3-year-old Joshua Parkinson was pulled from the Mahoning Creek in Punxsutawney on Saturday afternoon. He died at a hospital.Investigators say the Irvona boy had been playing with children at a home near the creek before he was spotted in the water.Jefferson County Coroner Bernard Snyder tells The Punxsutawney Spirit that two other boys reported seeing Parkinson go over a wall and into the creek in the area where a bridge used to be located.

PITTSBURGH — Authorities in Western Pennsylvania have recovered the body of a man who drowned while canoeing, and are still seeking a kayaker missing in a different county.Armstrong County Coroner Robert Bower said the body of 60-year-old Harry Orr of Redbank Township was found Sunday morning in Mahoning Creek.Bower said Orr and two friends set out in a canoe south of Mahoning Dam but ran into choppy water that caused the craft to capsize. All had been wearing life jackets, but officials said Orr had taken his off. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is investigating.Crews in Fayette County have been searching for a 31-year-old man reported missing after kayaking in Ohiopyle State Park. Park staff, state police and volunteers searched until early Sunday and resumed after daylight.
