Lernerville Speedway hosts a doubleheader Friday night as the All-Star Sprints and Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Late Models come to the Sarver track.

Both features pay $5,000 to the winner.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps slated for 6:30 p.m. and time trials at 7 p.m.

General admission prices are $20 for those age 17 and older, $12 for ages 13-16, $ for ages 6-12 with kids age 5 and under admitted free.

Previous MACS winners at Lernerville include Mike Blose in 2001, David Scott in 2002, Alex Ferree in 2003 and Chub Frank last year.

Two former MACS points champions, Blose and Lynn Geisler, are expected to be among the field Friday.

Marissa DeCola, 11, and her brother, Mark, 8, placed first in their respective age divisions at the Southwest PA Junior Golf Tournament at Chippewa Golf Course in Bentleyville Tuesday.Marissa won the 11-and-under girls division with a 57 over nine holes. Mark won the age 8 division with a 59.

Erroll Robinson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard from Westfield High School in Chantilly, Va., signed an NCAA Division II national letter of intent with the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team.Robinson was a four-year varsity player and three-year starter with Westfield, which finished 20-3 last season and won a district championship.His teammate, Matt Hale, already had committed to SRU.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Driver Shane Hmiel, suspended indefinitely by NASCAR on June 3 after failing a second substance abuse test, won't return before 2007.Hmiel, son of longtime crew chief and team official Steve Hmiel, was suspended through 2006 and faces an evaluation after next season before he's allowed to return to racing.He was first suspended in September 2003 after failing a substance abuse test. Hmiel completed a prescribed rehabilitation program and was reinstated for NASCAR competition in February 2004.The 25-year-old driver was tested again after qualifying for a Busch Series race last month in Concord, N.C. He was permitted to race, but was suspended several days later after NASCAR received a positive result from the test.
