Pennsylvania Farm Show
HARRISBURG — The 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show, which is drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors during its eight days of livestock judging, rodeos, farm equipment displays and culinary attractions, continues through Saturday.
Among attractions is a life-sized butter sculpture that weighs more than a half-ton and depicts a dairy cow and farm family members showing off baby chicks and apple pies.
Sheep competitors earn show honorsHARRISBURG — A Butler County sheep-shearing and yarn-weaving team placed second Wednesday at the Pennsylvania Farm Show's Sheep-to-Shawl contest. The Butler County Predalers were named reserve champions of the contest, which begins with shearing a sheep and then gives teams two-and-a-half hours to spin and weave a themed-design garment at least 22 inches wide and 78 inches long.
Alpaca entrants capture awardsHARRISBURG — The results of the farm show's Tuesday events included these winners from Butler County:In the Alpaca show, Lily Zacherl of 4-H Alpaca Pack, Butler County, with Asgard Acres Ragnar, placed seventh in Intermediate Group 1 on the obstacle course, and third in showmanship.Seth Zacherl of 4-H Alpaca Pack, Butler County, with Asgard Acres Xxxteme Viking, placed sixth in Intermediate Group 2, on the obstacle course and eighth in showmanship.In the Pony Pulling show, the team of Carl Ealy of Renfrew pulled a load of 7,200 pounds a distance of 10 feet, to win the heavyweight division. Tim Ealy of Boyers placed fifth in the lightweight division.
