Ruth E. Layton

Ruth E. Layton, 94, of Butler passed away at 9 p.m. Monday at the Lowrie House.

She was born Oct. 18, 1919, in New Sewickley Township, Beaver County, to the late Walter A. Rader and Elsie (Householder) Rader.

Mrs. Layton was a homemaker and a member of Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She loved to sew and quilt. Mrs. Layton enjoyed working in the family greenhouses and loved family dinners.

Mrs. Layton is survived by her son, Donald L. Layton and his wife, Barbara, of West Sunbury; her daughter, Judith A. Byers and her husband, Dwight, of Butler; her six grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Rader; and her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burton P. Layton, who she married June 4, 1941, and who passed away April 29, 1998; one daughter; her brother; and her sister.

Layton— The friends of Ruth E. Layton, who passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, will be received at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Drive, Butler, with the Rev. Matthew Kail officiating.
