Peak leaf color approaching in county
Colder temperatures have stimulated steady change in foliage throughout the commonwealth. With cold to seasonable temperatures expected in the 10-day forecast, the fall color transition should follow a steady trend throughout Penn’s Woods.
The best color currently can be found in the northern half of the Keystone State, but vibrant hues are making their way southward, according to the Oct. 12 fall foliage report from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The western region of Pennsylvania is now approaching its best color, with maples putting on a fine show of yellow, orange and red. Peak for the region is expected around Oct. 18, the report said.
