Slippery Rock boys soccer team blanks Sharon
Collin Wimer and Zach Lasko scored goals for Slippery Rock in a 2-0 boys soccer win over Sharon on Thursday night at Troy-Alan Stadium.
Trent Davey had an assist for the Rockets (12-7, 7-0), who remained unbeaten in region play. Josh Book made five saves in goal to get the shutout.
Slippery Rock hosts Greenville on Monday night.
Freeport 5, Greensburg Salem 1 — The surging Yellowjackets (7-7, 6-6) won their fourth straight game. Freeport hosts Derry on Tuesday.
Knoch 3, Shady Side Academy 2, 2OT — Mason Nebel scored the game-winning goal for the Knights. Will Schwalm and Matthew Welsh also scored for Knoch.
Butler 4, Shaler 0 — Cody Lubinsky, Lawson Neigh, Landon Stevenson and Christian Mortimer scored goals for the Golden Tornado. Thomas Sheptak had two assists, Chris Rubcic and Dylan Murphy one each.
Drew Knight was in goal for the shutout.
Girls Soccer
Freeport 7, Apollo Ridge 0 — Samantha Liput and Camryn Woods scored two goals each for the Yellowjackets. Addy Kristofik, Addi Whitlock and Lizzie Parisi also scored for Freeport.
Alyssa Alcorn got the shutout in goal.
Girls Volleyball
Ava Fox had 10 kills as Karns City defeated Forest Area, 3-0. Match sores were 25-17, 25-9, 25-6.
Haylie Karenbauer had seven kills, Ashley Maurer 16 assists, six aces and three kills, Leah Wilson three kills, Brooke Rumbaugh eight assists, Naomi Venesky five kills, three aces and Regan Schmoll three kills for the Gremlins.
Clarion-Limestone 3, A-C Valley 0 — Bella Ielease and Anna Ithen had four kills each, but A-C Valley dropped this match by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-12.
Colleen Verostek tallied eight digs and Lexi Altman six assists for the Falcons (3-10), who play Tuesday at Redbank Valley.
Keystone 3, Moniteau 2 — Davina Pry had eight kills, four aces, four digs and two blocks, but the Warriors lost this match 13-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21,19-17. Marissa Pry had eight kills and four blocks, Lily Staab eight kills and three digs.
Saegertown 3, Slippery Rock 1 — Anora Robare tallied 34 assists and six assists for the Rockets, who were on the short end of this 25-15, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23 score. Lexi Plesakov had 17 digs, Avalee Demidovich and Molly Bissell 10 kills each.
Mars 3, Ambridge 0 — Cecilia Christie had seven kills and eight blocks for the Planets in this 25-19, 25-13, 25-18 win. Ella Nicotra contributed nine kills and Emma Balazentis had 10 digs.
