Music, arts studio aims to provide healthy learning environment
No matter what skill level, the owners of CREATE Community Music & Arts Studio, 129 N. Washington St., Butler, say it can guide students to that next step.
Owners John and Joy Glath opened CREATE in February 2023 after taking over the former music studio Downtown Sounds.
CREATE offers one-on-one or group lessons in art, music and voice. Their students can range in age from 5-year-olds to adults.
“For the music side, we run a 10-week session,” John said. “Then, we have a recital. We have a Christmas recital, and in the spring, we have an Easter recital. That’s what makes us a little different.”
CREATE’s Christmas recital will take place on Dec. 9.
Their children, Alina and Jacob, are two of the three instructors. Alina teaches art while Jacob teaches music, primarily guitar, Joy said. Taylar Getsy also works as a vocal instructor.
“We are serving God in our community by using our God-given gifts to help others nurture theirs,“ Joy said.
Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche said the Rotary Club of Butler is excited to help studios and artists to share their talents with others as part of the Butler Cultural District project.
“The Glath family is providing an opportunity for children and adults to experience music and art as part of a community,” Osche said. “The studio is so warm and inviting and offers a positive means of expression in a world where there are negative distractions.”
Students can sign up at any point during the sessions and those interested in signing up can reach out on CREATE’s Facebook page or by calling 724-256-5595.
“We based this business on our faith,” John said. “We know that it’s built on a strong foundation, and we are trying to keep it a clean, family environment.”
