Griffith breaks XC record
Drew Griffith set the Butler course record on Tuesday, but the Golden Tornado cross country team dropped a 27-30 decision to North Allegheny. Butler defeated Shaler, 15-50.
Griffith completed the course in 15 minutes, 14 seconds, breaking CJ Singleton’s previous mark of 15:30. The Tornado’s Owen Dressler took third in 16:21, Brendan Richer sixth in 16:56, Zachary Slear eighth in 17:07.
Butler’s girls dropped a 17-47 decision to North Allegheny. Shaler did not field a full team.
Ava Brewster led the Tornado girls with a fourth-place finish in 19:46. Butler’s boys end the dual meet season at 6-1, the girls at 5-2.
Freeport’s Michael Braun placed first overall with a time of 17:43 as the Yellowjackets downed Knoch (19-44) and Avonworth (22-34).
Knoch’s Carter French came in second place, but the Knights fell to Avonworth (24-36).
In the girls meet, Knoch’s Ava Santora and Brooke Galcik took first and second, respectively, but the Knights lost to Freeport (26-32) and Avonworth (28-29).
Freeport, led by Grace Kristine, topped the Antelopes (21-34).

Four different players scored for Slippery Rock in a 4-0 defeat of Conneaut.
Trent Davey, Max Kovacik, Zach Lasko and James Cranmer each found the net, with Lasko adding an assist.
Josh Book was in net for the Rockets (11-2, 6-0).
Knoch 6, Greensburg Salem 0 — Scoring for the Knights (7-7, 7-3) were Anthony Lajevic (2), Mason Nebel, Sam Caldwell and Kannon Trofimuk.
Butler 2, Central Catholic 1 — Cody Lubinsky had both goals for the Golden Tornado (10-2-2, 7-2-1). Ryan Conaway had one assist.
Freeport 4, Jeannette 2 — No other details were provided from this win for the Yellowjackets (6-7, 5-6).
Girls Volleyball
Avery Adams had 13 service points and Brynne Smith added nine service points in Knoch’s sweep of Lincoln Park.
Match scores were 25-8, 25-10 and 25-9.
Sabrina Schlott added four blocks for the Knights (10-4, 6-2).
Cranberry 3, A-C Valley 0 — Maddy Dehart had five kills for the Falcons (3-9), who dropped this match 25-23, 25-10, 25-12. Bella Ielase had three kills and four digs, Lexi Altman six assists and six digs, Ava Snyder six digs.
A-C Valley travels to Clarion-Limestone on Thursday.
Slippery Rock 3, Sharon 0 — The Rockets swept the Tigers by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19.
Anora Robare had 20 assists. Avalee Demidovich contributed eight kills and seven digs, Lexi Plesakov 11 digs.
Girls Tennis
Seneca Valley won both doubles matches thanks to Anna Coon/Marlee Jones and Lily Wood/Alaina Brody, but the Raiders dropped a 3-2 decision to Peters Township.
The Raiders fell to 9-7 with the loss.
