Butler senior Hunter Swidzinski carded a 1-over-par 73 Monday to place third in the WPIAL 3A Individual Golf Championships at Valley Brook Country Club in Canonsburg.
Swidzinzski finished three strokes behind the medalist, Nick Turowski of Penn-Trafford.
The top 14 golfers advance to the PIAA 3A Championship Tournament Oct. 16-17 at Penn State University.
The Golden Tornado’s Wyatt Kos carded an 80 to finish 20th. Seneca Valley’s Payton Brown shot an 84 for 29th, Lukas Singh of Mars an 86 for 35th and the Planets’ Colin Stevenson a 92 for 39th.

Seneca Valley slipped to 9-6 on the season with a 4-1 loss to Sewickley Academy at home. The Raiders’ lone win was at No. 2 doubles.

Addison Girdwood, Maeve O'Leary and Jenna Caringola each scored for Mars in a 3-0 win over Oakland Catholic.
Brynn Ramsey and Girdwood added an assist for the Planets (11-0, 9-0). The shutout was preserved by Kate McEnroe and Lily Goodworth.
Freeport 2, Burrell 1 (OT) — Samantha Liput and Camryn Woods scored for the Yellowjackets (8-1-1, 5-1-1).

Girls Volleyball
Senior setter Anora Robare dished out 33 assists as Slippery Rock defeated Lakeview 3-1.
The attack was spread out, with Adison Novad dropping 13 kills to lead the team and Avalee Demidovich adding 11 kills. Zoey Pankratz had five aces for the Rockets, who won by scores of 26-24, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-5.
Seneca Valley 3, Mt. Lebanon 0 — No other details were provided from this win for the Raiders.
Franklin 3, A-C Valley 0 — Bella Ielease had five kills and eight blocks for the Falcons (3-8), who dropped this match 25-21, 25-9, 25-11. Maddy Dehart had three kills, Lexi Altman seven assists. A-C Valley plays at Cranberry on Tuesday.
Burrell 3, Knoch 2 — Kenzie Kurtz, Jess Farbacher and Karlee Buterbaugh all contributed nine kills in this defeat for the Knights (9-4, 5-2). Sierra Mock, Sabrina Schlott and Brynne Smith each had six kills.
Knoch lost the match by scores of 21-25, 28-26, 25-21, 24-26 and 12-15.
