Horse Trading Days marks 50th anniversary
ZELIENOPLE — The annual Horse Trading Days summer festival celebrates its 50th anniversary July 18 to 20.
The event has grown into one of the largest in the area and welcomes more than 40,000 attendees each year.
Horse Trading Days is an annual event of the Zelienople-Harmony Business Association and is made possible through the support of residents, businesses, police and fire police, borough officials and volunteers.
The festival was introduced in 1963 by Ron Roach, Jim Cleaver, Franklin Health and Donald Waltman as a way of promoting the Harmony and Zelienople areas.
To celebrate the anniversary, fireworks will be a part this year’s event, which includes all the traditional favorites.
Crafts, food, sidewalk sales, a used book sale and children’s games will be available all three days along Main Street.
Games and contests, a horse parade, children’s activities and musical entertainment will be spread throughout the days of the festival.
The organizers are still in need of volunteers. To volunteer, call 724-814-4027.
