Richard L. “Dick” Kummer Jr., 65, of Butler died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Born June 11, 1945, in Butler, he was the son of Lorraine Gerhart Kummer and the late Richard L. Kummer Sr.

Mr. Kummer was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War.

He worked in Stainless 2 Aisle at Armco, retiring Sept. 11, 2003, after 35 years.

He was a member of the Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, and he enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Kummer is survived by his wife, Julia Kummer, who he married June 22, 1968; two sons, Richard Kummer III and J. Kevin Kummer, both of Butler; one daughter, Melinda and her husband, Brian, Slupe of Butler; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Lorraine Gerhart Kummer of Butler; one brother, Robert Kummer of Butler; two sisters, Joan and her husband, Bill, Stalker and Brenda and her husband, Chuck, Pfeffer, both of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Mr. Kummer was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

<B>KUMMER</B> — Friends of Richard L. “Dick” Kummer Jr., who died Saturday, March 5, 2011, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. Services will follow at the funeral home Tuesday at 6 p.m. with Pastor Donald Short of the Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to the Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E.
