Butler advances 6 golfers
All six Butler boys golfers made the target score of 81 or less during the WPIAL Individual Qualifier held Tuesday at Cranberry Highlands.
Hunter Swidzinski carded a 71 to earn medalist honors in the section for the second successive year. Boden Lenyk had a 74, Wyatt Kos 76, Jase Renwick 77, Levi McClellan 80 and Blake Scott 81.
Mars’ Lukas Singh shot a 73 to advance. Seneca Valley’s Marcos Lopez carded a 73, Anthony Cardosi 75, Casey Clawson 77 and Tyler Garvin 79.
The WPIAL semifinal round takes place Monday at Latrobe Country Club.
KSAC Mega Match — Joe Rapp of A-C Valley/Union carded a 37 to place third overall at Tuesday’s KSAC Mega Match at Foxburg Country Club. Clarion’s Devon Lauer earned medalist honors with a 35.
Clarion won the nine-team event with a 201. Moniteau placed fifth with a 230, A-C Valley/Union sixth witrh 252, Karns City ninth with 464. Moniteaui’s Keegan Book placed 10th overall with a 43. The Warriors’ Corbin Fallen shot a 45 while Karns City’s Chloe Fritch and Joey O’Donnell, Moniteau’s Connor Ealy and Carson Minear all shot 46.
Girls Volleyball
Kendall Ritzert tallied five aces, two kills, 12 assists and three digs as Karns City defeated Union, 3-0. Match scores were 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.
Ava Fox contributed five kills, four aces and eight digs, Naomi Venesky six kills, Haylie Karenbauer five kills and two assists, Ashley Maurer six assists and two aces, Nicole Taylor four digs and two aces and Cayley Craig three kills.
North Allegheny 3, Butler 1 — The Golden Tornado fell to 5-3 with this road loss.
Audrey Lehman had seven kills and 10 digs for Butler, which fell by scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-16.
Brynn Cornibe added seven kills and Sarah Lucas 16 digs.
Seneca Valley 3, Pine-Richland 2 — No other details were reported from this win for the Raiders.
Boys Soccer
Aiden Savona scored three goals as Mars shut out Highlands, 10-0. No other details were provided.
Cross Country
Moniteau freshman Alexis Kirschner won the girls race in 23 minutes, 14 seconds, but Karns City’s team picked up a 22-33 win. Moniteau freshman Peyton Beck won the boys race in 19:15, but no team score was kept.

At Bethel Park High School, Seneca Valley senior Kylie Staudt dropped a 10-0 decision to Penn-Trafford’s Amelia Williams in the first round of the WPIAL Class 3A singles tournament.
Two local players bowed from action at the Class 2A singles tournament, being held at North Allegheny.
North Catholic’s Katie Hardy survived a first-round match against South Park’s Grace Kempton, 10-8, before falling 10-3 to top-seeded Cecilia Gurgel of Winchester Thurston.
Knoch’s Jade Nether lost 10-6 in the first round to Greensburg Central Catholic’s Sasha Hoffman.

Knoch 3, Deer Lakes 2 — Kam Burtner scored the game-winner with three minutes to go when she put away a low cross from Macrina Robb, who had two assists in the game.
Burtner scored earlier in the game with Emma Slusser on the assist. Gretta Hull also scored for Knoch (4-3-2, 3-1-1).
Girls Golf
Moniteau won the final KSAC Mega Match of the season at Hi-Level.
The Warriors had a team score of 124.
