Virginia M. Leone
Virginia M. Leone, 85, a resident of Grove Manor, formerly of Boyers, passed away early Monday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital. She will be sadly missed, but is now with her Lord.
A daughter of the late Lloyd and Olive Simpson Hooks, she was born in Boyers on April 12, 1929.
Virginia was a graduate of Grove City High School.
Mrs. Leone retired after 29 years of service to the Moniteau School District, where she served as a baker in the food service department.
She was a lifelong active member of Boyers United Methodist Church. Over the years, she served the church in many capacities, including being a Sunday school teacher and serving as a trustee.
Always busy, Virginia enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing, playing the piano, solving puzzles, and finding the time to read hundreds of books each year.
She married Benjamin R. Leone on July 26, 1947. He survives along with her son, Douglas Leone of Boyers; daughter, Amy Morgan and her husband, Alan, of Slippery Rock; two grandchildren, Jennifer Dietrich of Monument, Colo., and Jason Morgan and his wife, Laura, of Green Mountain Falls, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Liam and Nolen. Also surviving is her sister, Mildred Verbonitz of Boyers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, infant Dorothy, Mary Catherine Richards and Shirley Hughes.
Leone— Funeral arrangements for Virginia M. Leone, who passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, have been entrusted to Jamison Funeral Home, Harrisville. There will be no public visitation.Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at Boyers United Methodist Church, 937 Cemetery Road, Boyers, with the Rev.
