LATROBE — Brett Rinker of Slippery Rock shot a 77 to win his age group in the 18-hole North East Junior Golf Tour event at Glengarry Links inLatrobe.

His sister, Jenna, carded an 87 to place second in the girls division.

HOOKSTOWN — At a recent Southwest Pennsylvania Junior Golf Association tournament at Ponderosa Golf Club in Hookstown, Marissa DeCola captured the 12-year-old girls division and her brother, Mark won the boys' 9-year-old division.Marissa fired a 45 in the 9-hole event while Mark carded a 54.

ALIQUIPPA — Jon Pratkanis of Butler finished in a three-way tie for first place at the West Penn Amateur Qualifier at Beaver Lakes Country Club Wednesday.Pratkanis fired a 1-over-par 73 to tie Mike Grisnik of Beaver Falls and Trent Karlik of Pittsburgh.Mike Marron of Parker and Rob Voltz of Butler tied with three others for fourth place with a score of 75.There were 17 qualifiers in all plus two alternates.

The Beadling Soccer Club will have 11 teams participating in the Region 1 Tournament June 29 to July 4 in Virginia Beach, Va.Beadling squads recently captured 10 of 16 PaWest 2006 State Cup Tournament titles.State Cup champions were from the girls U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15, U-17 and U-19 squads while the boys titleists were U-14, U-17, U-18 and U-19.The U-19 girls became the first girls team from PaWest to win every state championship since U-12, which makes eight consecutive years.The U-15 girls will try to defend their Region 1 title. The team won all five of its State Cup games by a combined 37-0.
