Christine J. Volchko-Langston, 81, of Westbrook Drive died Wednesday in the emergency room at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 5, 1924, in Carmichaels, she was a daughter of Frank and Mary Zubel Havanas.

She retired in 1993 after 29 years with the food service department of the Butler School District and finished her career at Butler High School.

Mrs. Volchko-Langston was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. She also was a member of the Ladies Guild at the church.

She was an avid card player and was the manager of the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a volunteer for Tanglewood Senior Center.

Surviving are her husband, Howard R. Langston, whom she married Jan. 4, 1997; two sons, Alan M. Volchko of Easton and Robert E. "Bz" Volchko of Poland, Ohio; a brother, Charles Havanas of Cleveland, Ohio; and four sisters, Mrs. Cathy Kirk of Warren, Ohio, Mrs. Phil (Evelyn) Thelan of Gary, Ind., Mrs. Mary Ann Figas of York and Mrs. Susan Davanzo of California. Also surviving are five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, Michael Volchko, Jr., died Sept. 3, 1990. A brother also preceded her in death.

<B>VOLCHKO-LANGSTON </B>— Friends of Christine J. Volchko-Langston, who died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lyndora, with the Rev. Dennis Bogda officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.Parastas services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geiblefuneralhome.com.
