Mars High School juniors Samantha Jocuns, left, and Gracie Patrick took third and first place, respectively, in The Strand Theater’s 2017 Ghost of the Strand Creative Writing Contest. Jocuns’ story featured the ghosts of Romeo and Juliet. Patrick’s “Adelaine” was the tale of an actor who did not know she had died before her on-stage debut. Entries were judged on creativity, descriptive imagery and proper language use.
