Koropchak

Helen S. "Helen K." Koropchak, 91, formerly of Lyndora, died early Sunday morning at Sunnyview Home.

She was born Nov. 28, 1915, and was raised in Lyndora by her adopted parents, Nicholas Koropchak and Anastazia "Nellie" Hopta Koropchak, following the death of her parents.

Mrs. Koropchak was a 1933 graduate of the Butler Business College, where she excelled in typing and stenographer skills.

She had worked as a secretary for the A. H. Himchak Insurance Agency in Lyndora, and for more than 30 years at the C. Stewart Shoemaker Insurance Agency office in Butler.

She had been a lifelong, active member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, where she attended daily services for years. She was also a member of the Greek Catholic Union.

Mrs. Koropchak loved to crochet, especially making her favorite Angora "Tam" style hats and tatting stitching embroidery on handkerchiefs and linens.

Surviving are her cousin and caregiver, Mary Herman of Lyndora; and three daughters, Rosemarie "Honey" Walsh of South Bend, Ind., Chris Rensel and Martha Stehle, both of Butler; several nieces and nephews, including Michael Shalap, and his wife, Pat, of Virginia.

<B>KOROPCHAK</B> — Friends of Helen S. "Helen K." Koropchak, who died Nov. 4, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. The Very Rev. Dennis Bogda, will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.
