Madigan

Patrick R. Madigan, 87, of Butler passed away Tuesday at his residence.

He was born in Madera, Clearfield County, Feb. 10, 1923, a son of the late James and Mae Grattan Madigan.

He was a graduate of Houtzdale High School and the Purdue University School of Pharmacy.

Patrick was the district sales manager for Abbott Laboratories for 36 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps as a 2nd lieutenant in the South Pacific.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was a former usher. Patrick also was a member of the Elks Lodge of Butler, American Legion Post 117 of Butler, the Moose Lodge and the Purdue University Alumni Association. He also was a former member of the Butler Quarterback Club.

He was a former coach for many years in the Butler Area Baseball Association and was also former president of the Butler Area Baseball Association.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Echard Madigan, whom he married April 24, 1948. They were married for 62 years. Also surviving are one daughter, Kathy Mularski and her husband, Mark, of Grays Lake, Ill.; one son, Dr. James Madigan and his wife, Beverly, of Butler; five grandchildren, Megan Mularski and Shannon Mularski of Grays Lake, Ill., Patrick Madigan and his wife, Kelly, of Baltimore, Md., and Michael Madigan and Timothy Madigan of Pittsburgh; and a great-grandson, Liam Patrick Madigan of Baltimore, Md.

He will be sadly missed by his family.

<B>MADIGAN</B> — Friends of Patrick R. Madigan, who died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.Members of the St. Paul Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 11:35 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.Members of the VFW Post 249 and Lyndora American Legion Post 778 will meet at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. Friday to conduct a memorial service.Military honors at the cemetery will be accorded by VFW Post 249 and Lyndora American Legion Post 778.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
