Leona Eaton

Leona Eaton, 83, formerly of Butler, died Thursday morning due to complications from dementia at Mountain Top Senior Care, in Mountain Top, Pa.

Born Nov. 8, 1927, in Lyndora, she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Esther Buzas, and her family included 11 brothers and sisters.

She graduated from Butler High School and went on to college, earning a bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock State College and a master's degree from Penn State University, both in education.

She taught elementary school in the Butler School District before leaving her job to raise her children.

Leona was married to the late Dr. John L. Eaton, Ph.D. in 1957. He died May 11, 2004.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Linda Eaton Latini of Albuquerque, N.M., and Brenda Eaton of Drums, Pa.; two grand children, Francesca and Brendan Elezovic, both of Drums; one brother, Edward Buzas of Whispering Pines, N.C.; and a sister, Eleanor Broderick of Butler.

<B>EATON</B> — Funeral services for Leona Eaton, who died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2010, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mausoleum Chapel of Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut. The Rev. David Panther will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Burial Estates.Arrangements are by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
