Barbara K. Fennell, 89, of the Rosebrook Assisted Living Home, Sarver, died Thursday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler on June 19, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William and Beatrice Carr Ferguson.

A graduate of Butler Senior High School, Barbara had worked as a bank teller at several local banks during the years, Union Trust Bank, Citizens National Bank Lyndora office and Mellon Bank in Butler. She was always known by her customers for her happy, helpful attitude, ready smile and pleasant personality.

She had been a member of the National Secretarial Association.

She was very proud of her Irish heritage and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler, where she and her husband attended daily morning Mass and then followed with breakfast at the Eat and Park restaurant at Clearview.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lewis W. Fennell, who she married Feb. 17, 1953; two daughters, Kate Ferrick, and her husband, Chuck of Butler, and Mary Lou Somma and her husband, Russ of Sparta, N.J.; two grandchildren, Mary Regina Somma and William Somma; and her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, ‘Danny Boy'.

She was preceded in death by a 3-week-old son, Terrance William Fennell, who died in February 1961; and one sister, Mary Louise Ferguson, who died March 4, 2009.

<B>FENNELL</B> — Friends of Barbara K. Fennell, who died Thursday, March 3, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 1:30 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.St. Paul’s Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary at 12:45 p.m. Monday at the church.
