George J. Stefanko

George J. Stefanko, 85, of Lyndora passed away Friday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born in Lyndora April 20, 1930, he was a son of the late John and Anna Fedak Stefanko.

He was a retired turn foreman at Butler Armco.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War.

He was a member of Saint Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora.

He also was a member of American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora; VFW Post 249 of Butler, where he was past commander; and Slovak Sokol of Lyndora, where he was past president.

He was an avid golfer and was a member of Armco Country Club and Oakview Golf Club.

He also enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Raskowsky Stefanko, to whom he was married for 61 years; two daughters, Carla Machulis and her husband, Frank, of Irving, Texas, and Doreen Hussar and her husband, Mike, of Butler; three grandchildren, Kristen Hussar of Pittsburgh, Michael John Hussar of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Nicole Hussar of Butler; and two nieces, Evelyn and Barbara.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Stefanko and Michael Stefanko.

STEFANKO — Friends of George J. Stefanko, who died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, will be received at Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Fidelis R.C. Church, Lyndora.Entombment will take place in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.The bereavement group of St. Fidelis Church will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Sunday.Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora, VFW Post 249 of Butler and American Legion Post 117 of Butler.For more information, visit www.martinfh.net.
