Dennis Darrell Crawford Sr.

Dennis Darrell Crawford Sr., 76, of Cabot passed away Tuesday at his home.

Born July 22, 1939, in Butler, he was a son of the late Lewis Crawford and Helen Shields Crawford George.

He attended Chicora High School, graduating in 1960.

A veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War as a communication specialist stationed in Germany and Bermuda.

Dennis worked at Automatic Electric from 1966 to 1969. He then was employed at Pullman Standard from 1969 until the plant closed. He was also employed at Nationwide Insurance in security and maintenance and at Armstrong Utilities until he retired in 2011.

He was a member of the Summit Township Sportsman's Club and the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company, where he was an EMT.

He adored his beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Bauer Crawford, to whom he was married for 49 years; two sons, Denny Crawford Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Butler and Donny Crawford and his wife, Tammi, of Saxonburg; and four grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Michael and Jaydon.

In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Donna Tanner and her husband, Ed, of Marietta, Ga., and Kay Kastler of Ohio.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald Crawford and Robert George.

CRAWFORD — Friends of Dennis Darrell Crawford Sr., who died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday the funeral home with the Rev. Carmen Shullo, pastor of the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, officiating.Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the VFW Post 249 of Butler, the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the American Legion Post 117 of Butler.Burial will take place at the Mount Airy Cemetery.The family requests memorial donations in memory of Dennis D.
