Pauline McKitten Thomas

Pauline McKitten Thomas, 95, of Union Hill Road in Joelton, Tenn., formerly of Butler where she lived for 91 years, passed away Tuesday.

She was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Butler, to the late Andrew and Anna McKitten.

She retired from the Butler County School System in food preparation. During World War II, she worked at ARMCO steel company to help with the war effort.

Pauline was a Girl Scout leader in Meridian and was a member of the Ladies Guild at St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, where she was a long-standing member.

She had been very active in the senior center at Tanglewood and the Ladies Auxiliary at the Highfield Community Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Jr.; and her son, John Andrew Thomas.

Surviving are her daughters, Margaret J. “Peggy” (Ed) Pete of Medina, Ohio, and Kathleen (Steve) Stroup of Joelton, Tenn.

She was the loving grandmother to her six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who also survive her.

THOMAS — A memorial service for Pauline McKitten Thomas, who died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, will be conducted later.The Anderson & Garrett Funeral Home in Joelton, Tenn., assisted with the arrangements.
