Austyn S. Rensel

Austyn S. Rensel, 17, of Butler, died unexpectedly Thursday at his home.

Born April 28, 1999, he was the son of Brian C. Rensel.

Austyn was a senior and honor student at Slippery Rock High School, and attended Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School for the Protective Services program. He was accepted to attend the University of Pittsburgh. He worked at the Panera Bread Company, was a volunteer for the Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department, was a state-certified EMT, had volunteered for the Cranberry Township Ambulance Service and had taught first aid in the Boy Scouts. He was an avid hunter, receiving the triple trophy at age 15; was an avid artist, photographer and costume designer; was always a classy dresser, wearing mostly a suit and tie; and was very determined and a perfectionist in whatever he would pursue.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, Brian C. (Brenda) Rensel of Lyndora; grandparents, Kim and Mary “Chris” Rensel of Butler; a brother, Christopher Rensel of Butler; a sister, Tiffany (Shane) Bailey and their son, Liam, of Pembroke, Va.; two aunts, Lisa (Jim) Shearer and their son, Kyle, and Jennifer (Bryan) Flaugh and their children, Sean and Madison, all of Beaver, Pa.; his great-grandmother, Mary Herman of Lyndora; his stepsisters and stepbrothers, Aubrey (Jared Miller) and their daughter, Helena, and Matthew, Connor, Dennis and Danielle McDermott; a very close great aunt, Martha (Bob) Cawthon; and also many aunts, uncles and cousins.

RENSEL — Friends of Austyn S. Rensel, who passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be noon Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
