Wesley Meade “Tub” Eckenrode

Wesley Meade “Tub” Eckenrode, 77, of Callery died Wednesday at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Born Aug. 1, 1939, in Callery, he was a son of the late James T.R. Eckenrode and Fonda Marie DeHart Eckenrode.

He had worked as a foreman for the Asplundh Tree Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Old Union Church in Callery; was a member of the NRA; and was a life member of the Callery Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing with his brother.

Surviving are his wife, Emma M. Christy Eckenrode, whom he married Feb. 1, 1964; two children, Terri L. (Pete) Plog of Madrid Township, Maine, and Matt M. Eckenrode of Callery; two brothers, Thomas R. (Lynn) Eckenrode of Zelienople and James “Brick” Eckenrode of Urbania, Ohio; sisters, Patricia Weber and Lorain Christy of Butler, Donna (Gary) Plaisted of Evans City, and Susan Christy of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, Clayre Plog, Staci (Jason) Linnell and Jackie Plog, all of Maine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Eckenrode.

ECKENRODE — Friends of Wesley Meade “Tub” Eckenrode, who died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E.
