State police: 1 killed, 11 injured in crashes during Labor Day weekend
Pennsylvania State Police Troop D investigated 30 vehicle crashes with one fatality and 11 injuries over the four-day Labor Day weekend travel period.
According to the data collected over the holiday, alcohol was a factor in Butler County’s only fatality.
Troopers also made 51 arrests for driving under the influence and issued 1,519 total traffic citations, including 87 for not wearing a seat belt and two for failing to secure children in a child safety seat. Of the remaining citations, 458 were issued for speeding throughout Troop D’s covergae area.
Statewide, troopers investigated at total of 671 crashes resulting in eight fatalities.
These statistics cover only those incidents investigated by the state police and do not include incidents to which other law enforcement agencies responded.
