Butler YWCA to hold first Turtle Trot 0.5K race
You may have heard of the Turkey Trot. On Sunday, Sept. 17, the Butler YWCA will hold its first “Turtle Trot” race.
Billed as a race for people who do not usually run long-distance races, the Turtle Trot is a 0.5 km race — one-tenth the distance of a 5K race. The course is about 1,640 feet long and will take roughly 700 steps to complete.
Along the course, runners will find numerous activity stations, including the Backyard Game Station, the Armchair Athlete Station and the Selfie Station.
Proceeds raised from the Turtle Trot will benefit the Butler YWCA’s various programs, including Project Period and Getting Ahead.
“Our goal is to bring people together for a fun, lighthearted afternoon,” said YWCA director Elizabeth Short in a news release. “Every dollar raised at the Turtle Trot stays right here in Butler County, supporting women in need.”
