Mary S. Herbenick, 94, of The Townhouse Apartments, Butler, died Saturday afternoon surrounded by her family and friends at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 4, 1915, in Tyler, she was a daughter of the late Afton and Mary (Bobby) Sheptak.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. Mary had enjoyed reading, baking, crossword puzzles and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was always a positive influence on many of her friends.

She is survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Michael H. Herbenick, whom she married Sept. 14, 1941, and who died Nov. 4, 1986. She was also preceded by two sons, Bernard M. Herbenick, who died Nov. 20, 2001, and Raymond M. Herbenick, who died April 11, 1999; two sisters; five brothers; two infant sisters; and three infant brothers.

<B>Herbenick</B> Friends of Mary S. Herbenick, who died Saturday, April 4, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. Abbot Leo Schlosser, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.Parastas services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
