E. Butler ousted from tourney
BELLEFONTE — Two games. Two bad innings. Two losses.
That was the fate that befell East Butler over the weekend in the American Legion Region 7 tournament.
East Butler saw Mifflin score nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Saturday for a 15-5 win.
On Sunday, East Butler led 7-3 in the top of the ninth inning, but Kiski rallied for five runs for an 8-7 win.
The two losses sent East Butler home.
"That's been our postseason story," said East Butler manager Dess Schnur.
AaronDorondo hit a home run in the first game, but Mifflin's offense was too much for East Butler, which used four pitchers in the nine-run fourth inning.
On Sunday, Nick Rossmiller pitched eight-plus strong innings, but began to falter in the ninth. John Marra relieved him, but could not stop the Kiski onslaught in the second disappointing loss in as many days.
"Nick pitched the game of the year," Schnur said. "He didn't deserve to lose, but did."
East Butler (19-8) lost to Prospect in the Butler County American Legion tournament, but advanced to the Region 7 tourney after Prospect declined the bid.
