Sarah Helen Brown

Sarah (Helen) Brown, 90, of West Sunbury passed away at 2:02 a.m. Tuesday at the Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City following a short illness.

Helen was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Parker. She was the daughter of the late David A. Hovis and the late Elmyra McKee Hovis.

She was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church and had attended the Pleasant Valley United Presbyterian Church until its closing.

Helen graduated from the Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and she retired from the Moniteau School District with more than 28 years of service as the school nurse. She loved helping others and chatting with friends and neighbors.

Helen is survived by a son, David Brown of West Sunbury, and a sister, Margaret Hovis of Saxonburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brown, who died Dec. 13, 1970; one son, Richard K. Brown, who died Dec. 22, 1979; one sister; and one brother.

BROWN— Friends of Sarah (Helen) Brown, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, will be received at the WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Kevin Channel of the Concord Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
