Butler graduate Jenna Geibel blasted a three-run homer Sunday to lead the Slippery Rock University softball team to a 7-1 win over Wilmington (Del.) in Kissimmee, Fla.

Third baseman Jordan Zeunges had three hits and two RBI for The Rock while Knoch graduate Kirsten Brant, Natalie Atkinson, Shardea Croes and Amanda Hedgepeth each had two hits.

SRU suffered a 7-1 loss to Ferris State (Mich.) later in the day. Geibel had a hit and scored The Rock’s lone run.

BaseballThe Rock (5-4) dropped its fourth straight game Sunday as two errors helped St. Joseph (Ind.) College score six unearned runs and post a 7-3 victory in Winter Haven, Fla.

Track and FieldChris Warning opened his outdoor season by posting NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the hammer and discus at the Battle of the Beaches Saturday at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.His hammer throw of 59.87 meters shattered the school record of 57.53 set last season by Joel Peters. Warning’s discus throw was 51.68 meters. He won both events at the meet.Butler graduate David Caldwell (fifth place) and Ryan Camody (fourth) cleared 4.25 meters in the pole vault to record PSAC qualifying standards. Andrew Greenslade hit the PSAC mark in the shot put with a toss of 13.98 meters, placing fifth.

Women’s TennisNo. 23 Slippery Rock dropped a 6-3 decision to Ashland (Ohio) in Hilton Head Island, S.C.Dunja Drmac won her No. 2 singles match and teamed with Lauren Coggins to win at No. 2 doubles for SRU. Sarah Lynch won at No. 1 singles for The Rock (6-2).
