Ervin J. “Grumpy” Davis

Ervin J. “Grumpy” Davis, 73, of Fairview Road, Petrolia, passed away Saturday evening at his home.

Born in Chicora on Oct. 11, 1943, Ervin was the son of the late Ervin J. Sr. and Stella Trimbur Davis.

Ervin was a graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School.

Ervin was a lifelong truck driver and owned and operated JCD Trucking with his son.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Peggy S. Peck Davis. Also surviving are four children, Stacey L. Kirkham and her husband, Bryan, of Pelion, S.C., Gregory A. Davis and his wife, Peggy, of Grove City, Robert R. Sherbon and his wife, Melissa, of Deland, Fla. and Jamie Davis of Petrolia; 10 grandchildren, Stevie, Tyler, Amanda, Katelyn, Anthony, Briana, Alyla, Dylan, Cearra and Jamie; a great-grandson, Cayden; three brothers, Edward Davis and his wife, Mitzi, of Texas, Douglas Davis and his wife, Pam, of Franklin, and Marvin Davis and his wife, Mary, of Chicora; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jeremy, and a niece, Amanda.

DAVIS — There will be no public visitation or service for Ervin J. “Grumpy” Davis, who died Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hile Funeral Home of Karns City.
