Ruth E. (Kennedy) McCandless, 77, of Lyndora passed away at 4:47 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Butler to the late Robert C. Kennedy and Valora (Wise) Kennedy.

Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of the Butler High School Class of 1957.

Ruth worked as a nurses aide in the Butler area.

She enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Ruth loved Pittsburgh sports and cherished her church and its members.

Ruth is survived by one daughter, Susan Pint and her husband, Eric, of Bruin.; two sons, V. Larry Bergbigler of Lyndora and Dale E. Bergbigler and his wife, Tracy, of Hilliards; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna L. Forcht and her husband, Donald, of Currituck, N.C., and Valora K. “Dee” Aiello and her husband, Paul, of Mars; and also by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth C. McCandless, who she married on May 26, 1986, and who passed away on Nov. 2, 2008; two infant children; and one sister, Yvonne Kennedy.

MCCANDLESS — According to Ruth E. McCandless' wishes, who died Friday, April 24, 2015, there will be no public visitation.Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., Butler, with the Rev. Todd Wentworth and the Rev. Sam McNamara of the First Baptist Church officiating.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 221 W.
