Charlotte (Smith) Hartmann
Charlotte (Smith) Hartmann, 93, of the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople passed away Tuesday at UPMC Passavant Cranberry.
Born on July 17, 1920, in Glen Campbell, Indiana County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Isabell (Saunders) Smith.
For several years, she worked as a music supervisor for various Butler and Lawrence County schools.
She was a member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church, where she formerly served as the organist. Charlotte was a resident of Passavant Retirement Community for more than 13 years, where she played the piano for services and events.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay Wallace and her husband, George, of Wellsburg, W.Va.; her three sons, Alfred C. Hartmann and his wife, Lorraine, of Round Rock, Texas, Thomas Hartmann and his wife, Karen, of Russellton and Edwin Hartmann of Butler; her nine grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred C. Hartmann Jr., and her son, Keith Hartmann.
Hartmann — The family of Charlotte (Smith) Hartmann, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, will welcome friends from 1 p.m. until the time of a blessing service at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with Father Lawrence R. Smith as celebrant.
She will be laid to rest at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in Zelienople.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Zelienople Area Public Library, 227 S. High St., Zelienople, PA 16063, where she served as a volunteer for many years.
